Product Review: Voluminous Superstar Liquid Eyeliner by L'Oreal
Though I'm a beauty blogger, I don't consider myself a beauty expert. Albeit one thing: eyeliner. If there's one thing that's been consistent in my beauty routine since I was fifteen, it's eyeliner. Pencil, gel, liquid, you name it, I've tried it. The L'Oreal Telescopic Precision Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner being one of my favorite drugstore options, I was therefore excited to see a new offering by the brand. After all, I've been on the hunt for a good felt tip eyeliner - the lauded Kat Von D one was a disappointment for me (it isn't exactly a felt tip, but it's a pen-style liner, so I'm lumping it in the same category), so I'm still trying to find "the one."
I've been trying this Superstar Liquid eyeliner for a whole month now, and I haven't heard any mention of it on the blogosphere. I think I know why: it's awful.
The brush is nice in theory, but fails completely in practice. Though it has the shape of an actual paint-brush brush (no typo), leading one to think it'll be quite effortless to use, its thin tip and wider body make it hard to have control over the lines you make - my strokes are wobbly and my lines never precise or clean. Though the copy on the website claims that this eyeliner makes "winged eyes in a single stroke," I find it is absolutely impossible to achieve a winged look. Every time, it failed miserably, with my line either way too skinny or way too fat, but never the same on each side.
The formula was also underwhelming. Not black enough, and smudges easily. I can therefore find no use for this, and am left with buyer's remorse.
So, save your money. And if you have any great suggestions for an eyeliner, I'm all ears.
